Haseeb Hameed to miss rest of India tour with fractured finger
Opener Haseeb Hameed has been ruled out of the remainder of England’s tour of India after suffering a fracture on his left little finger in the third Test. The 19-year-old, who played a gutsy knock of 59 in the second innings, underwent a scan on Monday which has confirmed England’s worst fears.
Hameed, whose parents were born in Gujarat, had scored 1200 runs at an average of 49.91 in the 2016 Championship for Lancashire, following which he was called up to the England squad for the ongoing series against India.

However, his India tour has been cut short by the injury on his left little finger, where he has been struck both during the second Test and the third Test. Hameed will now head home leaving England looking for potential replacements for him. Middlesex’s Nick Gubbins, Durham’s Keaton Jennings, Kent’s Daniel Bell-Drummond, and Essex’s Tom Westley appear to be in the running for the opener's slot for the next two Tests of the series.
