The usage of DRS has been a very contentious topic right now and very few are blessed with the judgement skill to use the review in the right way. Windies opener Evin Lewis made a joke of himself by going for a review on a ball that would have gone on to hit his middle stumps and was left mortified.
Deepak Chahar was producing a spell of astounding audacity and was aided by the Windies top order who seemed to have been batting without any purpose. Take nothing away from Chahar too, who was bowling in the channel and around the corridor of uncertainty, and reaped huge dividends for the same.
On the first ball of the fourth over, the senior Chahar bowled a length delivery around off which moved back in slightly. The lack of pace on the ball did the trick for the Indian pacer and Lewis, who was trying to hit the ball on the up, was beaten for the lack of pace. That invariably resulted in the ball pinning him right in front of the middle and umpire hardly took a while to come up with the conclusion - Out.
It was as obvious a decision as it could get but Lewis had other ideas. After consulting with his partner, he went for a review despite clearly knowing that he didn’t get any bat on it. The replay, however terrible it was due to the sub-standard production, revealed that it was in fact going to hit the middle of middle-stump, leaving Lewis completely embarrassed as he left the ground instantly.
