VIDEO | Ravindra Jadeja does another Jadeja as Shamarh Brooks caught at slip off no-ball
Ravindra Jadeja crossing the line against the Windies is not a new thing, and India had to sacrifice the 2016 World T20 semi-final because of Jadeja's no-ball. The all-rounder pulled off the same stunt once again as Shamarh Brooks received a reprieve after being caught at slip off no-ball.
Although India managed to pick two wickets in the first session of Day 4, Windies batted with positivity and purpose to put India under pressure. While the pressure was mounting on the bowlers to enter the tail category, Jadeja gave the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing rookie Shamarh Brooks but fate had other plans.
On the last delivery of the 36th over, Jadeja landed a sharp delivery around off and as the ball turned away from the batsman, and while trying to fend that away from the batsman, Brooks received a faint nick. Ajinkya Rahane was alert at first slip and he made a slight adjustment in his position to gobble the catch at first slip to bring elation in the Indian camp.
However, the customary no-ball checking saw Indians happiness fade away as at the time of first landing, there was nothing behind the line. That was sufficient for Richard Kettlebrough to change his decision as Brooks lived to fight another day.
