Indian Premier League has been a platform for young and emerging players to prove themselves in the most competitive T20 tournament globally. IPL 2022 has also witnessed some of the Indian youngsters showcasing their potential in the league and can be groomed for the national level in future.

To become a superpower in any sport the domestic structure of the sport in that specific country becomes important. India has become a world-class unit with the help of a strong domestic setup and the Indian Premier League has also played its role over the years. The league has witnessed some emerging youngsters who showed their potential in the most competitive T20 league around the globe. Some of them faded away, some of them made it to the Indian T20I side and some of them are still trying to find a way to get into the Indian team.

IPL 2022 has 10 participant teams and it is going to be an intense competition this season. 25 matches of the tournament have been played so far and some youngsters have already disclosed their skills in the tournament. With the kind of skills these players have shown they can make it to the national team if groomed properly. Let us take a look at some of the emerging batters in the tournament who have impressed spectators so far.

Tilak Varma

The left-handed Hyderabad batter has impressed many with his exploits in the tournament so far. Varma has an absolutely solid technique and a courageous approach to stamp his authority. He has scored 157 runs from five matches at 39.25 and a brilliant strike rate of 160.2. Tilak Varma also has an impressive record in domestic cricket. He has 255 first-class runs at 31.87, 784 List-A runs at 52.26 and 538 T20 runs at 31.64 On his debut game against Delhi Capitals, Varma showed a lot of composure and played a confident knock of 22 runs from 15 balls to stitch a decent partnership with Ishan Kishan.

He then scored a half-century against Rajasthan Royals and has been amongst runs consistently. He fought for the 194-run chase against RR and was the highest scorer but the fall of wickets at the back end cost the team defeat. Also against Punjab Kings in the latest game, he and Dewald Brevis stitched an 84-run partnership for the third wicket. He played a knock of 36 runs but the team went on to lose the match. Varma has a technique for the role and can be a good middle-order batter and the selectors might consider him for the selection whenever there will be a slot available in the middle or top-order.

Abhinav Manohar

Abhinav Manohar is another bloke in Indian cricket who has showcased his talent in the ongoing season of the IPL. He has scored 94 runs from 4 innings at 31.33. Manohar was up against a bowling attack composed of Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi. However, the youngster was not afraid to face the bowling and he scored unbeaten 15 runs from 7 balls playing a key role in finishing the game.

In his last two games, Manohar has scores of 35 and 43 respectively. Also, on both occasions when wickets were failing from one end and Hardik Pandya was playing a lone hand, he stitched a decent partnership with the captain. Manohar also has the ability to switch gears according to the situation and so the skills become very useful while batting in the middle order.

Ayush Badoni

The Delhi-based cricketer Ayush Badoni displayed his quality to absorb pressure right from the start in IPL 2022. He has been praised by many former cricketers and experts have praised his skills in a very short period of time. Badoni has scored 107 runs from five innings at 35.67 with one half-century. In his very first match of the IPL career, when Lucknow Super Giants were reduced to 29/4. However, Badoni along with Deepak Hooda stitched a crucial partnership of 87 runs for the fifth wicket and helped the team put up a decent total on the scoreboard.

He also continued his form against Chennai Super Kings and scored unbeaten 19 runs from 9 balls and played the role of a finisher. Badoni has delivered consistently for LSG whenever he has got the opportunity. However, most of the times he gets to play very few deliveries as they boast a batting unit that has world-class batters like KL Rahul, Quinton De Kock, Evin Lewis, and Marcus Stoinis. From whatever we have seen of Badoni this IPL he plays a fearless brand of cricket and can be a good middle-order batter as well as a quality finisher if groomer properly.

Anuj Rawat

Anuj Rawat was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 3.40 Crores and the amount paid to acquire his services was surprising for many. Now, he has become a regular opener for the side and has a lot of quality and a solid technique to his game. Rawat has 954 first-class runs at 30.77 and 573 List-A runs at 44.07 to his name. In the first three games, Rawat registered scores of 21,0, 26 and the move to open the innings with him came under heavy criticism.

The left-hander showcased why he was prioritized by the franchise and smashed 66 runs from 47 balls with two boundaries and six sixes. Also, he plays attacking cricket and allows the batter with him to take time to settle on the crease. Rawat is still in his early cricketing days and has a lot to achieve in the future. For this season, RCB will be looking to him for a solid start at the top for them and to inspire the coming batters to get the team to a huge total.

Once again, IPL has turned out to be a platform for young cricketers to prove themselves and a lot of them are delivering for their franchises. Hopefully, these cricketers will continue to be shining in the game and excel to be successful cricketers in the future.
