Unlike a batter or a bowler, the smart thinking of a wicketkeeper often gets eclipsed in a cricketing contest. However, Heinrich Klaasen’s mastery behind the stumps to dismiss Shikhar Dhawan off pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar went unnoticed as SRH squared off against PBKS in Mullanpur on Tuesday.

Winning the toss and electing to field first paid rich dividends for Punjab Kings as their fast bowlers extracted three quick wickets inside the powerplay. Although they kept with the momentum, a fifty-run partnership between Nitish Reddy and Abdul Samad propelled the total to 182 in 20 overs. In response, the Punjab-side got a similar start as their counterparts as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pat Cummins worked in tandem with the new ball, coupled with incredible glovework from Klaasen that kept the audience buzzing.

Having lost a couple of wickets for fourteen runs in four overs, the bowler insisted the wicketkeeper come up to the stumps after the first delivery of the over. Although a catch was dropped in the immediate next delivery, Klaasen showed exquisite reflex to induce a stumping on the third ball itself. Bhuvneshwar came over the wicket and bowled a good length delivery across the left-hander who stepped down the ground to charge through the line. As Dhawan got beaten by the angle and tad away shape, Klaasen quickly grasped the white rock and whipped the bails in a jiffy with the batter miles away from home.

Realizing this lightning-quick work from the Proteas, the Twitterverse erupted with applauds.

What a reflex!
