Admiring your idol is admirable, but a few dismissals can invite tough comparisons. Such was the story of Nitish Kumar Reddy on the opening day of the last BGT Test at Sydney, where he fell for a golden duck in a manner eerily reminiscent of Virat Kohli's unfortunate dismissal at Adelaide.

‌The pace and bounce of the Sydney track proved challenging for the Indian batters. The Men in Blue found themselves in trouble, losing wickets at regular intervals, with the scoreboard reading 57/3 at lunch. However, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja attempted to steady the ship with a 48-run partnership. Yet, Scott Boland, continuing his remarkable form, kept striking at crucial moments. One of his key scalps was Melbourne's hero, Nitish Kumar Reddy, dismissed for a golden duck.

On the fifth ball of the 57th over, Boland bowled from over the wicket, delivering a back-of-a-length ball outside off stump. The delivery angled in before nipping away, catching the Andhra all-rounder in two minds. Reddy took a hesitant step forward but was forced to stay on the back foot. Attempting to leave the ball at the last second, he failed to withdraw his bat in time. The ball grazed the bat’s face and landed safely in Steve Smith’s hands at second slip. What added intrigue to the dismissal was its striking similarity to Virat Kohli's wicket in Adelaide, where Smith also took a similar catch off a comparable shot. The Twitterverse quickly noticed the parallel, sparking discussions comparing Reddy’s dismissal to Kohli’s.

Following his idol foot steps?

Sad!

Very hard luck!

That was not expected by him!

He was not at all ready for it!

From Kohli??

He is gone!
