Rahul Dravid was present in an event hosted by Wisden. There he also received questions about the superstar culture prevailing in each and every sport. He talked about the same, praising the fact how this culture has helped the players and countries to grow.

‌Rahul Dravid, former Indian player and Head Coach, was recently invited to an event hosted by Wisden. This event saw various notable personalities across different sports come together and have a chat together. Dravid was the spotlight for the cricket fans, as they got to see the coach under whom India broke its ICC trophy drought.
He was also having an interview, where a number of questions were asked to him. One such question was about the superstar culture in the game. This superstar culture is not just present in cricket, it has also been prevalent across various other sports such as football, tennis, basketball, and many more.
Dravid talked about this by saying, “Any sports need its heroes and I don't think people become a hero without performances. You can't capture the imagination of a nation, if you don't put in the performances. You get lots of praise for what you do, but you also get a lot of backlash and scrutiny.”

Our Take

Rahul Dravid really had some wise words when it came to the superstar culture across different sports. It is not easy for one to be the superstar of the sport which he plays. There are not one, not two, but a number of competitors who are eager to take their spot in the team and get a chance to be the superstar of that sport in their country. But only a few of them are able to shine, such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Cricket, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in Football, and more.
