Jose Mourinho charged by FA for second time in a week

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been given a second FA charge in a week following his dismissal during Saturday's match against Burnley. The Portuguese has until Friday to respond against the charges, and the issue could end up with him receiving a hefty fine or even a stadium ban.

After being charged by the Football Association on Thursday over comments about referee Anthony Taylor, Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands by Mark Clattenburg on Saturday during United's 0-0 draw with Burnley. Mourinho appeared to be upset when United were not awarded a penalty following Jon Flanagan's challenge on Matteo Darmian inside the Burnley box.

The Red Devils' boss is accused of using abusive language directed at the referees inside the tunnel area and emerged for the second half but was escorted to a seat in the stands.

The FA have acted after considering referee Mark Clattenburg's match report and Mourinho has until Friday to respond. The possible punishments include a warning, fine, touchline ban or stadium ban.

The Portugese is no stranger to controversies with referees, and while at Chelsea, the 53-year old was given a one-match stadium ban and was fined £40,000 in November 2015. Match referee Jon Moss' claimed that Mourinho refused to leave the officials' changing room and verbally abused the officials at half-time during Chelsea's defeat at West Ham.

In October 2015, Mourinho was fined £50,000 for claiming that referees were afraid to award penalties against his side after the Blues were beaten 3-1 by Southampton.
