PV Sindhu has stated that Asian Games was not her last final and she shall learn from her mistakes and try to make a strong comeback in the upcoming tournaments. Pullela Gopichand mentioned that Tai Tzu Ying has a psychological advantage and they are trying to find better ways to beat her.

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu lost 13-21, 16-21 to Chinese Taipei's Tai in just 34 minutes to settle for a silver. The last time Sindhu got the better of Tai was at Rio Olympics which gave a similar result. Tai won her country's first ever singles gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games, outclassing both Saina and Sindhu.

Even though Sindhu is disappointed by her loss, she has stated that this wasn't the end of her world and she will try to make a strong comeback with better techniques that might help her to beat Tai and break the jinx.

“That was not the last final I played. I will play more finals and tough a loss in final is hurting I am trying to learn from it. I would discuss with Gopi Sir about the mistakes and will work hard to overcome them. There are a lot of other matches to prove yourself. I will keep working on different aspects of the game. It's not so easy and I need to work on every stroke,” she said.

Chief coach Gopichand quoted that Tai had some sort of a psychological advantage against Indians and her she is also equipped with good strokes and techniques. He also mentioned that they have been trying to find new ways in order to beat Tai.

“We have been doing that since we have been playing too many tournaments to retain rankings and defending points we are not able to implement our plans perfectly. But our players are closing in on Tai, very soon we will find a way. Since she has been beating our players she has a psychological advantage on them. There are players like Ratchonak Intanon, who beat Tai often. Very few can play the strokes like Tai. She is a complete package who is quick on her feet, very aggressive, smart and emotionally strong,” he said.

Saina Nehwal stated that she is glad to get back home with a medal from the Asiad. She also mentioned that she felt much faster in Jakarta. Though she wasn't able to get past Tai, she easily outwits Ratchonak Intanon, who is one of the few players who dominates Tai. Saina spoke largely of her.

“I know Ratchonak’s game and I am comfortable against her. This time I was much faster against Tai as well. There are a lot of positives from my defeat against Tai in the semis. But overall I am very happy to come back with a medal. With this I have won medals at all major events,” Saina said.
