Once again PV Sindhu remains India’s sole contender in the tournament as she readies to face Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska TunJung in the final of the Thailand Open. With old nemesis Nozomi Okuhara already in the final, the stage will be set for a terrific showdown if Sindhu wins this match.
Like most other Indian badminton aces on the tour, Sindhu has been experiencing a hot and cold form in 2018 so far, which doesn’t bode well for India’s upcoming Asian Games campaign where Badminton remains one of their strong suits. However, all that would change if Sindhu gets back her mojo and what better way to that other than winning a 500 series to start with.
Sindhu has, quite optimistically, stuck to her power play so far, and had an easy match against Malaysia’s Sonia Cheah who she defeated 21-17, 21-13 in straight sets. Despite trailing 11-7 at the break, Sindhu rallied back to win the first set 21-17, before clearly dominating the second one.
