Saurav Ghosal progresses to Round 3 of Qatar Classic
Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal has qualified for the third round of the Qatar Classic PSA World Tour Platinum event being held in Doha. The Indian will meet second seed Ali Farag of Egypt in the third round of the prestigious tournament in Qatar’s capital city.
Ghosal, who had a bye in the first round defeated Leo Au of Hong Kong rather comfortably at 11-2, 11-3, 11-5. Only in August at the Asian Games in Jakarta, the Hong Kong player had stopped the Indian in the semi-final.
It proved a different setting here late on Monday. Interestingly Ghosal also has a score to settle with the Farag next in what promises to be a keen contest. Four years ago, in what was their first and only meeting earlier, the Egyptian, who had come in as a qualifier had spoilt the top seed Indian's party right in the first round of the CCI international in Mumbai.
