Usain Bolt registered a win in the 100 meters race at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava where he posted a time of 10.06 seconds yesterday. After the race, Bolt admitted that he was suffering from a stiff back but insisted that he would be ready for the Diamond League on 21 July.
It was the ninth time that Usain Bolt participated in Golden Spike meet and in typical Bolt fashion he started slow but finished the stretch in 10.06 seconds. Cuba’s Yunier Perez put up a strong challenge as the difference of the first and second spot was a mere 0.03. Turkey’s Jak Ali Harvey finished the race in 10.26 seconds to grab the third position.
Bolt, who owns the world record in the 100 and 200 meters sprints, missed out on bettering his season best which was 10.03 seconds.
"I'm not happy with the time. But it's not important, I enjoyed it so much,'' the 30-year-old said after the meet, reported AP.
This was the first time since the Jamaican turned professional that he recorded back-to-back times over 10 seconds. The legendary sprinter admitted after the race that he is still not a hundred percent and was facing some problems due to a stiff back. However, he was quick to add that he would be ready by the time the World Championships arrive.
“I never worry. I always tell you guys if my coach is not worried, I am not worried. I just need to go to my doctor and get everything checked out to make sure everything is smooth and continue training so when my next race in Monaco comes [in the Diamond League on 21 July], I’ll see where I am at,” Bolt said, reported the Guardian.
