PV Sindhu and Ashwini Ponappa put up a dominating show against former champions Indonesia to secure a 4-1 win and stay in the hunt for a knockout berth in the Sudirman Cup mixed team badminton championship. India had suffered a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Denmark on the first day.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini produced a gritty performance against Tontowi Ahmad and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja in the mixed doubles match for a 22-20, 17-21, 21-19 win in a contest that lasted 66 minutes. Kidambi Srikanth, who reached the Singapore Open final recently, made it 2-0 for India when he beat Jonatan Christie 21-15, 21 -16.

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo defeated Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty 21-9, 21-17 in men's doubles to hand Indonesia their first win of the clash, but Sindhu saw off Fitriani Fitriani 21-9, 21-19 in women’s singles match hand India an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match rubber.

In the dead rubber, Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold runners-up pair of Ashwini and Sikki prevailed over world No 15 Della Destiara Haris and Rosyita Eka Putri Sar 21-12, 21-19 to complete a 4-1 triumph.

Denmark and India have won one match each. India have managed to reach the knockout stage of the tournament only once, during the 2011 edition, and failed to advance past the group stage in the last two editions.
