I am trying to build more pace in my bowling: Umesh Yadav
Indian speedster Umesh Yadav expressed his desire to add more pace to his bowling and interestingly confessed that he doesn’t think much about line and length, ahead of the team’s departure for the tour Down Under.
The 28-year old pacer, who has played 17 Tests and 52 ODIs for the national team, has been in and out of the Indian ODI side since the World Cup after failing to cement his place. However, Yadav is not ready to sacrifice his pace for line and length.
“I am here because of my pace. Whenever I come on to the ground or the pitch (to bowl) I always think about my pace. I do not think about my line and length,” Umesh was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Umesh, who was the leading wicket taker for India in the 2015 ICC World Cup with 17 wickets, is also planning to build up more pace to his bowling ahead of the Australia tour.
“Sometimes you will have bad days and you miss your length and give away easy scoring opportunities. But I am trying to build more pace in my bowling,” he said.
With the ODIs against Australia starting on January 12, the Nagpur lad also said that he is planning to add more variation to his bowling.
“I have just been focusing on keeping my line and length closer to the off-stump. I also try to swing the ball. I know if my wrist position is good, I can swing the ball easily, added Umesh, reported The Indian Express.
