Deaf T20 World Cup to be held in India from November 23

India will play host to the teams coming for the Deaf T20 World Cup which is scheduled from November 23. The tournament will stretch over eight days with countries like Australia, England, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and South Africa participating in it along with hosts India.

More than 200 players will be a part of this tournament. A total of eight teams will fight among themselves to win the trophy. Two groups will be formed and each team in a particular group will have to play three matches in the group stage. The top two performing teams from each group will enter the semifinal round.

Deaf Cricket Society (DCS) has taken the responsibility of hosting the tournament in India. The body works towards promotion and organisation of cricket matches for the deaf players of the country. It is affiliated to the Deaf International Cricket Council (Deaf ICC).

“Cricket is still one of the most popular sports played and watched in the country. In 2017 alone, the sport enjoyed 717 million TV viewers and around 27 billion impressions per week. Today we are confident that disability sport such as cricket will gain momentum and support by this world class tournament being held in India," General Secretary, DCS, Sumit Jain, said in a media release.

"We are delighted that India is hosting the second edition of Deaf-ICC World Cup T20. The enthusiasm from the teams across the world is overwhelming and the visit to India will be very special as it is known for promoting the spirit of cricket,” said Stefan Pichowski, Chairman, Deaf ICC.
