Mumbai shuttler Kaushal Dharmamer lifted the title in the men's singles category at the Hatzor International Future Series Badminton at Kibbutz Hatzor Israel on Sunday. Dharmamer registered a win against the top seed Miha Ivanic of Slovenia, who himself accounted as the seventh seed.

It was an intense match with both the shuttlers not allowing each other too many chances. The match lasted for 55 minutes with the duel going to the decider with the Indian eventually winning it 21-10, 14-21, 21-18. While the first game turned out to be an easy run for Kaushal with the Indian winning it by 11 points, the Slovenian was expected to pull up his socks next game and he did.

He came back to win the second game 14-21, which stretched the game to the decider. Now, it was the final set but the Indian had the advantage of stamina as he had won the first game easily and didn’t get many chances to get on in the second. And in the end, Kaushal roar out claiming the winner of the tournament.

“It was a very important win for me. I was bothered by injuries in the last couple of years and was working very hard to regain my full fitness,” said Kaushal, reported TOI.

The Mumbai boy had competed with second seed Collins Valentine Filmon of Romania 21-14, 21-8 that lasted 28 minutes in the quarter finals and was set up with the fourth seed Krzysztof Jakowczuk of Poland 21-19, 21-9 in the semis.
