The loss in the first T20 must have hurt captain MS Dhoni quite a lot going by his statement calling India's win in the second T20 against Zimbabwe “a big victory”. Faced with a must-win situation, Barinder Sran, playing his maiden T20I, wreaked havoc on the Zimbabwe lineup to set up India's win.

The visitors had suffered a shock defeat in the first match after Zimbabwe put up a good total of 170 and a chase that went down to the last ball with Dhoni at the crease. Yesterday, however, was a different show as Sran ran through the Zimbabwe top order to leave them bruised and battered. They eventually tottered to 99, but a double-figure total was never going to be enough in a T20 match.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Dhoni said, "It is a big victory. The bowlers started it all, important to start well and they bowled at right length. I was a bit worried that it was the third match on the same wicket and we would have also batted if we had won the toss”.

Dhoni also praised the efforts of the bowlers and also complimented the fielding.

"Bowling was backed by some good fielding, I emphasized that we had to run harder than we did in the last game. In the shorter format, it is very important," he said.

Newly capped Barinder Sran was adjudged the Man of the Match–the youngster took four wickets for 10 from four overs. He also became the second Indian to take three wickets in a single over of a T20I on the way.

"It was fun, the ball swung. There was no pressure, the debut came late. I was not concentrating on pace but on swinging the ball since the pitch was suitable for that kind of bowling," he said.

Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer was disappointed after the momentary high of the first T20. He faulted the side's score of 99 as the reason, understandably.

"We started slowly and lost wickets at crucial times. It is disappointing after making a good start to the series. The pitch misbehaved a bit but getting bowled out for 99, just not good enough. Final on Wednesday, we are still excited. We still believe we can win the series," he said.
