Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has been served a legal notice by a Lahore advocate, after the 36-year old said he gets more love in India than in Pakistan. In what has been deemed as an anti-Pakistan remark by some across the border, Afridi was full of praise for the Indian cricket fans.

After days of stalling, the Pakistan cricket team finally arrived on Indian shores on Saturday evening and were greeted enthusiastically by fans. Speaking in a press conference in Kolkata on Sunday, Afridi remarked, “We have always enjoyed playing in India. People here always give us a lot of love”.

If we demanded peace instead of another television set, then there would be peace in the world. Alas some journalist are born to deliberately misinterpret an innocent statement. Be positive, be true!

"There are very few nations where I've enjoyed cricket as much as I've enjoyed cricket in India," shared Afridi. The veteran all-rounder went on to add, “We got a lot of love here, we did not get this much love even in Pakistan, I can tell you. We always enjoyed playing here."

The last statement had to bear the brunt of the fury of a lot of Pakistan fans back home across social media, and with a legal notice now served to his name, Afridi will have to be careful with his words. Afridi posted on his Facebook page saying his words have been misintereted.

As per the notice, the Pakistan captain needs to apologize for his statements and needs to withdraw his statement.

Pakistan play India at the Eden Gardens on March 19.
