Michael Vaughan feels England will face a whitewash in the Test series against India if their batsman don't show up for the much-awaited tour. England beat Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series in Chittagong by 22 runs after Ben Stokes picked up two crucial wickets in three balls.

"If they perform like they did against Bangladesh, it'll be 5-0," Vaughan said while speaking to BBC Radio.

"You celebrate a win, but hopefully England, in the background, are being honest with themselves that they can play better."

19 of England's 20 wickets were off spin bowling with debutant Mehedi Hasan claiming seven wickets. When the Europeans show up in India, they will have to face off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is the best Test bowler in the world right now having claimed 44 wickets this year in Tests alone. Ravindra Jadeja, who is placed seventh in the ICC rankings, is also a big threat to the English side.

Vaughan claimed that England need to start their innings better or risk being "blown away" by the best Test side in the world. In the Chittagong Test, England's top order collapsed to 21-3 in the first innings and crumbled to a 28-3 in the second.

"It doesn't matter who goes first. England for such a long time are always 30 or 40 for three. If they're 30 or 40 for three against India they'll get blown away.

England will start their final Test in Bangladesh on Friday before moving across the border to India where they are scheduled to compete in a five-match series.
