Watch the Craziest Last-Over Finish in MLC History
Six runs needed in the final over, the batting team is truly in the game. But the bowler goes on to take a hat-trick, he brings the bowling team back in the game. The game changes the very next moment, as a batsman finishes the game with a mammoth six. Not a script, it is what happened in MLC.
Major League Cricket had one of the most intense finishes ever witnessed in the history of the tournament. And it came in the match between Texas Super Kings and Washington Freedom. Batting first, TSK went on to score 185/4 in 20 overs, as Washington Freedom came too close to the target.
In the final over, Akeal Hosein was given the responsibility to defend six runs. He started off the over with a dot ball against Marco Jansen. However, Jansen lost his wicket on the very next ball, which started to trigger a collapse. Hosein went on to dismiss Amila Aponso and Asif Mehmood in the next two deliveries, giving him a hat-trick.

Now, Washington Freedom needed 6 runs off 2 balls and had just one wicket remaining. Lockie Ferguson rotated the strike, putting Nikhil Chaudhary on strike with 5 runs to win off the last ball. However, Chaudhary smashed the ball for a six over the deep midwicket region, helping Washington Freedom to win the game.
Our Take
The match between Texas Super Kings and Washington Sundar showed that it is too early to conclude that the match has gone one-sided. Even though Akeal Hosein made his team back in the game with a hat-trick, it was still not enough as he didn't take the wicket of Nikhil Chaudhary. And for his fine knock, Nikhil won the Player of the Match award in this game.
