PCB is pushing the tribunal to impose a life ban on Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif for their alleged role in spot-fixing during the second edition of the Pakistan Super League in Dubai. Both players represented defending champions Islamabad United in Pakistan's version of the Indian Premier League.

Pakistan cricket team stood tall in front of the world after winning the ICC Champions Trophy. But the relation between Pakistan and spot-fixing never seems to end.

Earlier, the PCB took a bold step in suspending batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif and sent them back from Dubai, where the Pakistan Super League was organised. They were suspended under the anti-corruption code and were accused of meeting with bookmakers and agreeing to spot fix. Now, it has come to light that PCB wants the two batsmen to never return to cricket.

"Yes, we are pushing the tribunal to impose a life ban on both the players. We have given enough compelling evidence against them and about their involvement in the spot-fixing case," PCB legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi said as reported by PTI.

The tribunal headed by a retired Lahore High Court judge is expected to give its judgement on Sharjeel Khan later this month. It has also directed the lawyer for Latif to submit a final written submission by August 9.

If Latif's counsel doesnot submit a final reply until August 9, the tribunal said in a press release stated that, "the matter will be decided on the basis of material already available on record, without granting any further adjournment within 30 days as mandated by the Code for Participants."

Along with Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, the Board also suspended four other players in the fixing scandal, including left-arm pacer, Muhammad Irfan who is serving a 12-month ban after admitting to not reporting approaches by bookmakers, Muhammad Nawaz, who completed a two-month ban last week for the same offense, Shahzaib Hasan, and Nasir Jamshed.
