Cricketers are known to play football as a part of their pre-match warm-ups, however, every once in a while their football skills come in handy on the cricket field as well. This was the case when Hardus Viljoen showed off some good footwork to dismiss Michael Richardson in the NatWest T20 Blast.

Paul Coughlin won the toss for Durham against Derbyshire and chose to bat in their Natwest T20 Blast encounter in Derby. However, things did not start well for the away side as they were reduced to 22/2 by just the third over of the match.

And it only got worse for Durham as Hardus Viljoen sent Michael Richardson packing with some nifty footwork. The incident occurred in the fourth over of the Durham innings when Tom Latham tapped a Viljoen delivery and took off for a quick single. But Latham’s partner, Richardson, was not on the same page as he was caught ball watching initially. In the meantime, Viljoen rushed onto the ball and managed to perfectly side foot the ball onto the stumps while Richardson failed to make his ground despite bursting into sprint later.

Richardson’s dismissal reduced Durham to 22 for 3 within four overs and eventually, they could only manage to put up 161 runs on the board which Derbyshire chased down with 3 wickets and 3 balls to spare.
