Watch : Bangladesh's Imrul Kayes narrowly avoids a nasty injury while fielding
Bangladesh batsman Imrul Kayes has luckily escaped a serious knee damage while trying to stop a boundary against New Zealand on Sunday. However, a sore knee prevented Kayes from opening the innings for Bangladesh who eventually lost the T20 match at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand.
It was a lucky day for Bangladesh's Imrul Kayes as the left-handed batsman escaped from shattering his kneecap while trying to save a boundary against New Zealand.
When Kiwi batsman Corey Anderson launched a ball high towards the deep-cover boundary, Kayes tried to jump over the rope and prevent the ball from going for a six. However, the 29-year old was unable to prevent a six and in his efforts and fell over the bulky electronic advertising signs that have bolts protruding on the top.
He also crashed into the picket fence just behind the signs, which added to his pain. The opener required attention for a sore left knee from the team
