Mohammad Amir has picked Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world ahead of Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson when asked his opinion on the question. Both Kohli and Amir have shared a wonderful rivalry with each other with Kohli praising Amir’s spell against India during the Asia Cup.

Mohammad Amir took to Twitter on July 16th for an interactive session with his fans where he answered some of their questions.

Upon being asked who he thought was the batsman in the world at the moment among Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Steve Smith, Amir was quick to respond.

Amir and Kohli have developed quite a rivalry of late, with the former dismissing the Indian skipper in the final of the Champions Trophy which sent Pakistan on their way to winning the Champions Trophy for the very first time.

And therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Pakistan pacer picked the same spell which also included the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan as his favourite moment from the final of the Champions Trophy.

Moreover, the Champions Trophy final wasn’t the first time that Amir had derailed the Indian batting line-up. Earlier, with Pakistan defending just 83 in the Asia Cup last year, Amir came out all guns blazing and sent back Rohit, Ajinkya Rahane and Suresh Raina back to the hut by the 3rd over. And it was only a counter-attacking innings, from Virat Kohli that saw India home with 5 wickets and 27 balls to spare.

Amir remembers this spell till date and even picked it as his favourite one so far.

Finally, it must be said that the respect between the duo is mutual as Kohli, too, has praised Amir for making a wonderful comeback to international cricket after spending time away from the game after the ICC banned him for 5-years for spot-fixing.

“I would like to complement Mohammad Amir for the way he bowled. I actually congratulated him while he was bowling. I was so happy to play such an amazing spell. He is a world class bowler,” Kohli had said at the end of the Asia Cup game.
