Former Hyderabad captain and BCCI general manager MV Sridhar passes away

Former Hyderabad captain and GM of Cricket Operations at BCCI, MV Sridhar, has passed away at the age of 51 due to cardiac arrest. Sridhar was wonderful first class playing career and played an active role in Indian cricket administration, but later resigned due to a conflict.

Sridhar was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, owing to a cardiac arrest. Sridhar, who represented Hyderabad between the 1988-89 and 1999-00 seasons, accumulated 6701 runs at an average of 48.91 with 21 hundreds and was well-known for scoring a monumental triple century (366) in an innings against Andhra during the 1993-94 season. 

Sridhar was a doctor by qualification and had a first class playing career, along with playing various roles in Indian cricket administration. During the 2007-08 tour of Australia, he served as the manager of the senior men's team. Also, for the most recent World T20 held in India in 2016, he served as the tournament director.

Moreover, in 2013, Sridhar was appointed as the General Manager of cricket operations by N. Srinivasan and had the task of supervising the scheduling and conduct of international tournaments of the Indian teams (men, women and youth). He had also doubled up as a representative of the board at ICC meetings. He also travelled to the West Indies to oversee management after the sacking of head coach Anil Kumble after 2017 Champions Trophy.

Sridhar had resigned from his post on September 27 owing to his failure to unveil a conflict of interest as a result of his involvement in five cricket clubs in Hyderabad. His resignation was accepted by the Committee of Administrators after a meeting at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, after being interrogated on his role at the clubs.
