IPL 2019 | Royal Challenges Bangalore will bounce back, says Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla believes that the Royal Challengers Bangalore are not finished yet, and he expects them to come back strong, sooner rather than later. The leg spinner acknowledged the fact that RCB possess great players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, and suggested caution when bowling to them.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are once again playing on similar lines as the previous two editions. The Virat Kohli led side have lost all their four games until now. Time is running out for the franchise, but is even more worrying is that both Kohli and AB de Villiers have looked like a pale shadow of themselves. The skipper has only managed 78 runs in four innings thus far, whereas the former South Africa captain had scored an unbeaten 70 against Mumbai Indians, but looked uncomfortable in the middle and even failed to take RCB to the line. In his other three innings, De Villiers has scored nine, one and 13 runs.
But Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Piyush Chawla feels that the pair will bounce back with a roaring performance.
“We all know what kind of team RCB has got and four games down does not mean they are down and out because we know the quality of players they have and they will bounce back for sure. I am sure they are going to come back even more hard at us. Obviously, we have to prepare for that and play some good cricket if we want to beat them,” Chawla said, on the eve of his team Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against RCB, reported PTI.
Chawla has a great respect for the two stars, and even the in-form Parthiv Patel, who scored 67 off 41 balls in the previous encounter. Chawla stated that his team’s strategy with the ball will be to follow the basics, and make sure that they don’t make it any easy for the batsmen.
“Our plans are simple: just follow the basics, because we all know they have Virat (Kohli), AB de Villiers and even Parthiv has been batting well. All are quality batsmen and we just need to follow the basics, keep it simple and make sure we don't give any easy runs,” the 30 year old explained.
Although the Dinesh Karthik led side have comprehensively won the two matches until now, and managed to take the third match to the super over, their bowling might as well be their achilles heel, as they have leaked more than 180 runs in all the three encounters. On the other hand, nothing, apart from Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling performance, has looked good for RCB, and they will be hopeful of scoring their first two points in the upcoming match at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
