The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Mayank Agarwal as replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan in India’s squad for the upcoming Paytm ODI series against West Indies. Earlier, Dhawan was also ruled out of the ongoing T20Is versus the Windies due to a knee injury he sustained.

India's Test opener Mayank Agarwal might be in line to make his ODI debut versus the Windies in the upcoming three-match ODI series after being named as a replacement for Shikhar Dhawan in the squad. Agarwal, who has played 79 List A matches in his career, averages north of 50 in the format and has been impeccable in the 50-over format in domestic cricket this season, having registered scores of 47*, 69*, 120 and 28.

Dhawan had suffered a deep cut on his left knee during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Maharashtra in Surat and was ruled out of the ongoing T20I series. The BCCI Medical Team feels that while Dhawan’s stitches are off and his wound is healing gradually, he still needs some more time before he regains full match fitness.

The three-match ODI series will commence from December 15 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
