Aussie pacer Jason Behrendorff believes home nation England are still favorites for the World Cup, despite losing back-to-back games to Sri Lanka and Australia. Behrendorff starred with the ball for Australia, picking up his maiden five-wicket haul to help Australia beat England by 64 runs.

The Australian team management had struggled to solve the 3rd pacer conundrum since the start of the world cup, but Behrendorff put an end to it on Tuesday. The 29-year old Western Australian pacer picked up his maiden five-wicket haul to help Australia beat their archrivals England. Behrendorff set the tone in just the second ball of the English innings, knocking James Vince over with a beautiful late inswinger.Behrendorff, who was playing his second game of this World Cup, stated that it was a dream come true to represent Australia at the Lord's. "It's one of those things you dream of as a kid, to play cricket for Australia and then to come here and play at Lord's, my first time here... my first game here, something special," said Behrendorff in the post-match press conference, as quoted by Cricbuzz. However, when asked if Australia were favourites, Behrendorff was quick to play it down. "No, I don't think so," said the Aussie pacer.

Behrendorff also stated that England are still the favourites as they are the home nation, and the only thing Australia are focused on right now is to keep playing good cricket.  "I think it's something that the competition is still very open. England are still a great side. They are probably still favourites, home country. We aspire to continue just playing good cricket. So I don't think we're favourites, that's for sure." added Behrendorff. When asked about Australia's decision to play two left-arm seamers in the form of himself and Mitchell Starc, Behrendorff said that it helped the team as they are playing completely different roles with the ball.  "Sometimes you play three right-armers so why can't we play two lefties? Mitch and I do different roles throughout the team so it's really good we can play together today." said Behrendorff. Behrendorff and Australia's next challenge would be against the Kiwis, whom they take on at Lord's on June 29.
