Veteran journalist Rajat Sharma has quit the post of DDCA president with immediate effect and has issued a controversial statement. He felt that there were all minds of external pressure and factors that tried to stop him from working with honesty and transparency and thus he felt it right to quit.

Veteran journalist and host of the famous TV show 'Aap ki Adaalat' Rajat Sharma has resigned from the position of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President with immediate effect. He felt that he was challenged to work against his principles of honesty and integrity and believed that the pressure on him was too much to continue in the role.

"The cricket administration here is full of pulls and pressures all the time. I feel that vested interests are always actively working against the interest of cricket," Sharma said in a statement.

"It seems that it may not be possible to carry on in DDCA with my principles of integrity, honesty and transparency, which I am not willing to compromise at any cost," he further added.

Rajat was included in the cricket administration on the backing of his college colleague and former Union Minister Arun Jaitley and at one point of time was also in the reckoning for the role of BCCI President. But after the demise of Jaitley, he was subject to all kinds of external pressure and he found it difficult to cope up with it and the only work that he could do, according to him, was renaming the Feroz Shah Kotla as Arun Jaitley Stadium. Thus he believed that it was the right time to quit and let the Apex Council decide a suitable nominee who could resist the pressure and work as a strong President.

"In my endeavour, though I faced many road-blocks, opposition and oppression, just to keep me from discharging my duties in fair and transparent," he added. "That's why I have decided to call it a day and hereby tender my resignation to the Apex Council from the post of President, DDCA with immediate effect," he concluded.
