A sport like cricket demands exquisite skillsets and clean execution from individuals to succeed. Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed failed to do so in a fancy attempt to smoke a six as the Bangla Tigers Mississauga and Montreal Tigers locked horns in the third match of the 2024 Global t20 League in Canada.

Winning the toss in their first match of the season, the Tigers elected to field first at the CAA Centre, Brampton. On the back of four forty-plus scores - Ashton Agar, Tim Seifert, Dilpreet Bajwa, and Ben Maneti - the Tigers piled up 189 runs in 20 overs. In reply, the Mississauga lost a couple of early wickets before Rahmanullah Gurbaz soaked in pressure and steered the side along with Iftikhar. However, the 47-run partnership failed to grow longer with Ayan Afzal Khan wreaking havoc with the ball and Iftikhar succumbing under pressure.

With 52 needed off the last three overs, a couple of dots from Zahoor Khan produced a false stroke from the 33-year-old in 18th over’s third ball. The pacer dished a short ball over the stumps that the right-handed batter intended to clobber with a no-look attempt. The white rock skewed off the outside half of the bat and eventually died at the safe hands of Dipreet Bajwa at deep backward square leg. Seeing the set batter throw away his wicket at a crucial juncture of the contest with a not-needed fancy attempt, the Twitterverse was left abuzz.
