The pair showcased their skills, reaching 73/0 in seven overs. However, Adam Zampa ended their partnership by dismissing Salt in the eighth over. England's woes continued as Zampa claimed Buttler's wicket in the 10th over, and Stonis removed Will Jacks in the following one. Despite Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow stabilizing the innings, reaching 124/3 in 14 overs, Bairstow fell to Josh Hazlewood's slower length ball in the 15th over. The momentum favoured Australia as Ali departed in the 16th over, leaving England at 128/5. With Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone at the crease, England required 54 runs from the last two overs, reaching 148/5 in 18 overs. However, Livingstone's dismissal in the 19th over further dashed England's hopes. With 50 runs needed off the final over, Australia secured victory, with England managing 165/6, falling short by 36 runs.
