Interruptions in cricket matches are common, but the sight of a broadcasting device causing a delay is a rarity. Such was the scene at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where a malfunction of the spider cam led to an unexpected and prolonged halt in the match between LSG and RR.

‌The Sawai Mansingh Stadium was abuzz with excitement as it prepared to host its first IPL game of the season, featuring a clash between the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first, with Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking to the crease as the opening pair. Meanwhile, LSG skipper KL Rahul entrusted the first over to pacer Mohsin Khan, who kicked off proceedings with two beautiful good length deliveries.

However, the game encountered an unexpected interruption when a wire from the spider cam system snapped and fell to the ground after Mohsin's initial two deliveries. Amidst the chaos, broadcasting personnel rushed onto the field to rectify the situation, while players from both teams engaged in impromptu practice sessions. After a delay of approximately seven to ten minutes, the game eventually resumed, with on-field umpire Akshay Totre signalling Mohsin to continue with the third ball of the over. The technical gremlins continued to plague the game as another glitch emerged during the fourth over, this time involving the stump lights.

Meanwhile, Twitter erupted with a flurry of reactions to the unprecedented interruption, as users shared their thoughts and emotions about the unexpected delay on social media.
