Seshnie Naidu earns maiden call-up as South Africa announces squad for Women’s T20 World Cup

South Africa has added 18-year-old uncapped leg-spinner Seshnie Naidu to their 15-member squad for the forthcoming Women's T20 World Cup in UAE. She earned her place in the senior team thanks to her outstanding performances with the U19 and Emerging teams over the past two years.

‌Cricket South Africa announced their 15-member squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Laura Wolvaardt will continue as captain of the Proteas Women, marking her first T20 World Cup in this role. Additionally, the squad features 18-year-old uncapped leg-spinner Seshnie Naidu for the prestigious tournament, set to be held in the UAE in October 2024.

According to a Cricbuzz report, CSA Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors, Clinton du Preez stated,“ Naidu has shown significant growth as a bowler within our camps, and we see her as an X-factor for the World Cup. She brings a unique element to our bowling attack, offering something different that could be pivotal.” 

South Africa will carry the same squad to Multan for three T20Is against Pakistan from September 16-20, before heading to the UAE for the Women’s T20 World Cup. In the World Cup, South Africa is placed in Group B, alongside England, Bangladesh, Scotland, and the West Indies.
