Honesty and sportsmanship are essential values in a cricket game, reflecting a player's character. However, Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne failed to demonstrate this at Sydney on the second day, when he refused to walk after being dismissed and waited for the third umpire’s verdict.

‌After Australia’s dominant performance with the ball on the first day, dismissing India for 185 runs, it was now the turn of the Men in Blue to make their mark. Overnight batters Sam Konstas and Marnus Labuschagne walked in on day two, and the duo kept the scorecard ticking, bringing Australia to 15/1 in six overs. However, their partnership was short-lived as Labuschagne was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the seventh over.

On the second delivery of the seventh over, Bumrah bowled a good-length delivery around the fourth stump, which pitched and shaped away slightly. Labuschagne stuck on the crease, poked at it away from his body, missing the ball completely. Despite the clear outside edge, Labuschagne chose not to walk. The Indian skipper immediately opted for the DRS, and the ultraedge revealed a clear spike as the ball passed the bat. The replay on the Big Screen confirmed the decision and the Indian players celebrated as Labuschagne was sent back for a low score. The moment quickly caught the attention of Twitter, with fans discussing Marnus Labuschagne's refusal to walk.
