Rising Pune Supergiants made a grand entry into the IPL on Saturday defeating defending champions Mumbai Indians by nine wickets in the opener at the Wankhede stadium. Pune had restricted the home side to 121 with Mitchell Marsh taking two crucial wickets, before Rahane destroyed the Mumbai bowling.

The Rising Pune Supergiants unveiled their jersey for the ninth season of the Indian Premier League on Monday at New Delhi in the presence of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and owner Sanjiv Goenka. The team also appointed ex-Indian cricketer Hrishikesh Kanitkar as the Assistant Coach of the side.

Avenging the embarrassing defeat they suffered in the first T20I at Pune, India defeated Sri Lanka by 69 runs in the second T20I at Ranchi on Friday to level the series 1-1. The hosts registered a huge score of 196 batting first before stifling the opposition for 127/9 with Ashwin taking three wickets.

Left-handed batsman Saurabh Tiwary and South African all-rounder Albie Morkel have joined the Rising Pune Supergiants from Delhi Daredevils and will represent the Pune franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which is scheduled to be played from April 8 to May 29 in India.
