The arrival of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola has further spiced up the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs. The first Derby of the season ended in a comfortable win for City and, as we prepare for round 2, here are three things one can expect from the clash in the EFL Cup tonight.

Goal glut unlikely

The previous three encounters between the two clubs produced only 4 goals. In fact, despite dominating most part of the game at Old Trafford earlier this season, City managed to put just two past David de Gea. Moreover, with Chelsea hammering United 4-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Mourinho will certainly be more circumspect with his defence. City, on the other hand, scored just 2 goals in their last four outings across all competitions. A 5-goal thriller at Old Trafford is unlikely tonight.

According to the information on bet365, odds of 1.80 for goals under 2.5 sounds like a safe bet at this point.

Sergio Aguero to score

The Argentine is not exactly in red-hot form after failing to score in his last five outings across all competitions and was even dropped from City’s starting line-up by Guardiola against Barcelona. Add to that the missed penalty against Everton earlier this month. Aguero will be desperate to make amends tonight, and Bet365 are offering odds of 5 for him to open the scoring and 2.30 for him to score anytime.

Aguero has scored 8 goals against United in his career, and only Wayne Rooney tallies more in the Manchester Derby among the current lot. The Argentine figured on the scoresheet thrice in his last five visits to the theater of dreams.

A draw on the cards?

Neither of the teams are heading into the match on great form. United have won only 1 of their last four matches, while City are on a 5-match win-less streak. Both managers are under pressure to deliver, and this could make for a very closely fought and tight affair. According to Bet365, a draw is the most unlikeliest result with enormous odds of 3.30. This might not be a bad bet to make at the moment.
