Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made the team even worse, claims Michael Owen
Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made things even worse for the club. The Red Devils' campaign this season has been a sequence of bad results that started last year with them finishing 6th and are 12th this year with only 2 wins in 8 matches.

With only 2 wins in 8 games so far in the Premier League, Manchester United are already 15 points behind Liverpool and only 2 points ahead of relegation zone, showing the same problems the team demonstrated last season. Roughly 12 months ago, Jose Mourinho was sacked in similar conditions but United are showing no signs of improvement under Solskjaer management, despite the huge investment made on the team.Â
While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was without regular starters in the form of Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelof, the Manchester United boss has been put under the cosh. Not only that former Manchester United star Michael Owen believes that only a handful of stars that played against Newcastle United are good enough to play for the club.
âThey havenât got the players, theyâre simply not good . That first XI, Iâd say there are only three players, maybe four, that should be Manchester United players for the future. If youâre looking to build that club back to where it was, then thereâs probably three or four in that first team,â Owen told Premier League Productions.
The loss now takes United to 12 place and it also puts them just two points above the relegation zone. That has further seen the Norwegian come under immense pressure from fans and critics but reports indicate that the club is willing to give him time. However, Owen was also overly critical towards Solskjaer, not only questioning the Norwegian abilities to improve United's players, but also comparing him to rivals managers.
âOle Gunnar Solskjaer in his interview afterwards, I was almost slipping down my chair, it was almost like he doesnât know whatâs going wrong, letâs say. He can look over his shoulder and think âdown the road youâve got Jurgen Klopp, youâve got Guardiola - these are managers that are actually improving their players, theyâre getting the best out of their squad."
âIâm looking at that squad and, if anything, the players are getting worse. Theyâre devaluing, as a squad theyâre getting worse. Where is it all going to end?â concluded the Englishman.
