Mason Greenwood has admitted that his journey to the Manchester United first team has been an incredible journey and it’s one that is just starting. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting to let Romelu Lukaku owing to injuries, Greenwood have made an impact for the club with two goals to his name.

While many criticized, and still criticize, Ole Gunnar Soslkjaer’s decision to let both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave the club, it has allowed a few others to star. Marcus Rashford has done comparatively well, in patches, Anthony Martial looked a pure number nine before his injury and more importantly, Mason Greenwood has found a chance to make an impact. The young striker is considered to be one of the club’s best youth prospects and has showcased exactly why with two goals in 9 appearances.

But out of those nine appearances, six has come in the Premier League, two in the Europa League and one in the EFL Cup, six have seen the 18-year-old walk off the bench. Taking that and various transfer rumours that have begun popping up around the world Solskjaer has seen more than enough to award the young forward with a brand new deal. But the 18-year-old went on to admit that his journey is just starting and he has a long long way to go before he truly starts making an impact.

“I’ve been here since the Under-7s and worked through the ranks from Under-14s, Under-15s, Under-16s and Under-23s and, finally, the first team. I’ve signed a professional contract and it means the world to me. I’ve been here so long and it's what I worked up to and worked hard for. I’m going to show everyone what I can do in the times I come on, or if I play games, and in training, I’ll try my best and give it all for the team,” Greenwood told ManUtd.com.

Greenwood, who made his debut for Manchester United in the Champions League against PSG last season, has been impressive but injuries across the team have seen the Red Devils struggle. It’s also put immense pressure on Marcus Rashford, Daniel James, and company but the 18-year-old forward went on to add that despite that all the senior players have been really welcoming and have helped him adjust.

“Obviously, I was playing against bigger and older lads when I was younger, and it was always a challenge, and just a case of getting used to it really. It helps now I’m in the first team so it is a bit similar really. I’m playing up there with the first team, so yes. Yeah. They’re all nice lads and they all really help you when you go up for the first time. Obviously, they know how it feels. It helps that they have been there and they helped me a lot,” concluded Greenwood.
