Harry Kane has admitted that Tottenham have no excuses for their terrible start to the 2019/20 season, with the club struggling to get off the ground. The North London side has been in relegation form from the moment go, with just two wins in eight games, and have lost three games so far.

Tottenham have struggled so far this season and their latest loss to League Two side Colchester United proves that the North Londoners are in a slump. Nothing has gone right for Mauricio Pochettino and his side so far, with them scrapping through a few draws and losing shockingly to the likes of Leicester City, Newcastle United, and now Colchester United.

Things clearly need to change and striker Harry Kane believes that the team has no excuses for the way they’ve performed so far. In an interview with Sky Sports, Kane went on to say that this is a Champions League finalist team and they cannot use the inexperienced card any longer.

"I'd say it's been disappointing, I don't think there's any hiding behind that. To only win two games out of our first seven is not the standards that we've set in previous years. Obviously the two draws at (Manchester) City and Arsenal are not terrible results, but being 2-0 up at Arsenal and drawing does feel like a terrible result,” Kane told Sky Sports.

"We've put ourselves in good positions this season, we just haven't managed to see the game out or find a way to win like we have in previous years.  It's a disappointing start, but there are plenty of games to turn that around, starting with the game on Saturday [against Southampton].

With a tough run of fixtures coming up for the club, Kane went on to talk about how both the club and the manager need to manage the team much better. The North Londoners have looked tired and exhausted at times, and have also struggled to get off the ground in the first-half, which has hurt them more than once this season.

"[Game management] is something we need to get better at, when we go ahead in games we need to be more confident, to see the game out, whether we drop behind the ball or carry on playing, whatever suits that game. We're not inexperienced any more, we're not young any more, the excuses aren't there for us any more. It's down to us players to take responsibility,” concluded the Englishman.
