Formula 1 is set to resume in Miami after the cancellations of the Saudi Arabia and Bahrain races. Argentine driver Franco Colapinto fulfilled a dream by meeting Lionel Messi at Inter Miami’s training center.

With Inter Miami playing Orlando City on Saturday and no fixture on Sunday, Messi could attend the Miami Grand Prix to support Colapinto and Sergio Pérez.

As the Miami Grand Prix weekend approaches, two major sporting worlds came together in a moment that excited fans across football and Formula 1. Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi finally met Argentine Formula 1 driver Franco Colapinto in Miami, fulfilling a meeting that Colapinto had been looking forward to since joining the F1 grid. Colapinto arrived in Miami on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming race and visited Inter Miami’s Florida Blue Training Center.

There, he got the chance to meet Messi face to face, creating a memorable crossover between Argentina’s biggest football icon and one of its rising motorsport talents. The timing of the meeting has also sparked fresh speculation about Messi’s plans for race day. Inter Miami are scheduled to play Orlando City on Saturday night in another edition of the Clásico del Sol at Nu Stadium.

Since the club has no match on Sunday, Messi is available to attend the Miami Grand Prix if he chooses. Reports suggest Messi could potentially be joined by Rodrigo De Paul and other Inter Miami teammates at the circuit. Their visit would likely be to support Colapinto, who will race for Alpine, along with Sergio “Checo” Pérez, who is set to drive for Cadillac in the team’s first home Grand Prix appearance.
