The two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar may join the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a professional wrestler. The WWE's head of talent and development Canyon Cemen met the Indian grappler in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss his chances of joining the wrestling show.

Sushil’s management group Super Sport has confirmed that WWE's head of talent and development Canyon Cemen met Sushil in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss the prospect of Sushil joining the rodeo.

Head of Super Sport Raman Raheja told IANS, “There have been discussions from the past four months, but today Canyon flew down all the way from Orlando to have a face-to-face meeting with Sushil about his possible participation in the WWE.”

"The meeting went in a positive direction but we are exploring all options available with us before finalising anything. It's basically about Sushil's options for his future, we are looking for what's best for him," he added.

Sushil won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and bettered it with a silver four years later in the 2012 London Olympics. However, the 33-year old was unable to take part in the 2016 Olympic games at Rio as the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) decided chose to Narsingh Yadav which later led to a legal battle between the two parties.

On asking whether Sushil has taken the decision due to Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) decision to snub him from participating in the Rio Olympics, Raman said: "I won't like to get into those complexities but Sushil just wants to continue as a wrestler and if he gets into the professional arena, he will continue to represent the country."

If Sushil chose to go ahead with Pro Wrestling, then he will become the second Indian after The Great Khali (Dalip Singh) to be a part of the WWE.
