The Indian Aces started their 2016 IPTL campaign with a comfortable 30-17 win over the Japan Warriors at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. Even though the Aces won all of their matches, it wasn't an easy ride with the Mirza-Bopanna match requiring a shoot-out to decide a winner.

In the first match, Kirsten Flipkens represented the Aces against Kurumi Nara in the women's singles event. The Belgian made the most of the opportunity hitting an incredible 19 winners en route to a comfortable 6-2 win over the Japanese player.

The second match was a Mixed Doubles contest between the Indian duo of Sania Mirza-Rohan Bopanna and Jelena Jankovic and Jean-Julien Rojer. The match proved to be the best one of the day with a shoot-out required to choose a winner. The Indian team ended up on the right side of the results winning 6-5 to give the Aces a 12-7 lead after two matches.

The Legends game was between Australian Mark Philippoussis (Aces) and Russian Marat Safin (Warriors). The Aussie emerged victorious winning the set 6-3 to put the Indians in a comfortable lead.

The Men's Doubles proved to be a one-sided match as the Aces pair of Feliciano Lopez and Ivan Dodig beat Jean-Julien Rojer and Fernando Verdasco 6-2 to put the tie to rest.

The last game of the match was a Spanish derby between Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco. In a very close game that needed yet another shoot-out to pick a winner, Lopez won 6-5 to complete the whitewash for the Indian Aces.
