The name ‘Virat Kohli’ and the word ‘records’ have become synonymous today. Since 2016 started, Virat Kohli has looked like he's on a mission to break every record in his sight. Eat, breathe, break records, sleep – seems to have been his new year’s resolution and he has stayed true to it till now.
The ODI and T20I series against Australia were followed by the Asia Cup and the World T20 and now the IPL and Virat Kohli has just gone from strength to strength and raised the bar for himself tournament by tournament. Virat Kohli has indisputably been the best batsman in the world in 2016, and here are the numbers and records to back this claim.
1 – Virat Kohli has the most number of T20I runs in a calendar year already this year, with 625 runs in 12 innings. The previous highest was Kane Williamson in 2012 with 472 runs in 13 innings.
1 – Virat Kohli became the first batsman to score 75 runs or more in four consecutive innings in T20 Cricket. He scored 82*(vs Aus), 89*(vs WI), 75 (vs SRH) and 79 (vs DD).
1 - Virat Kohli has the most T20 runs (1653) at a single venue (M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore) as he surpassed Samit Patel’s 1595 runs at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, England.
1 – Virat Kohli has the most number of 50+ scores in T20I, crossing the half-century mark 16 times.
