Chris Lynn decides not to undergo shoulder surgery

Chris Lynn will not go through a shoulder surgery despite dislocating his right shoulder during Australia's T20 tri-series final against New Zealand at Eden Park. The destructive opener consulted specialists in Brisbane before arriving at the decision and now hopes to be fine for the upcoming IPL.

While fielding at mid-wicket, Lynn threw himself to his left to stop a boundary off Ross Taylor but ended up sliding awkwardly which caused damage to his right shoulder. He was grimacing with pain before the medical staff rushed him off the field to determine the severity of the injury and that eventually led to his non-participation in the Pakistan Super League.

However, Lynn will not require surgery and is now hopeful of playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, which starts on April 7. The Queensland batsman will start rehabilitation on his shoulder once the joint settles down a bit.

"Chris got a positive result from the doctors who said he will not need surgery. Chris is disappointed at missing the Pakistan Super League but he will be making every effort to play in the Indian Premier League and, if selected, the five one-dayers for Australia in England in June,” Lynn's manager Stephen Atkinson stated in a release, reported AFP.

Incidentally, the hard-hitting player had suffered a shoulder injury last year while attempting to take a catch during KKR's game against Mumbai Indians in the 2017 IPL.

The middle-order batsman, however, recovered from that and was featured in the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League 2017, scoring 136 runs at an average of a shade over 45. He was then selected for the T20I tri-series also involving England and New Zealand and as events, transpired now, he is injured again.
