The auction for the 13th edition of the IPL is just three weeks away as the registrations for the auction closed on November 30. As many as 971 players signed up for the auction of the mega event of summer, including as many as 196 capped international players along with 713 Indian players.

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get in motion as the auction for the cash-rich tournament is already at our doorsteps. As registrations for the auction closed on Saturday (November 30), as many as 971 players signed up while only 73 spots are left for grabs.

The response from the global cricketing fraternity has been overwhelming as 196 capped international players signed up to be apart of this mega event of Indian summer. Indian players make up the majority of the registrations as a total of 713 players, 19 capped and 634 uncapped players, opted to put their name under the hammer.

With the T20 World Cup around the corner, the importance of the cash-rich event has increased by folds. This year’s releases have been quite surprising as some of the big names of the shortest format of the game wait to go under the hammer. These big names include that of Chris Lynn, Andrew Tye, Colin de Grandhomme, Evin Lewis, Colin Munro and David Miller among others.

As many as 55 Australian players have signed up for the spot, while 54 South Africans come second on the list with Sri Lanka and West Indies having 39 and 36 players respectively in the auction. New Zealand, on the other hand, have 24 players on the list ahead of the 2020 IPL Auction. 

Kings XI Punjab go into the auction with the largest amount in their purse, 42.70 crores and not much vacancies to fill, while Royal Challengers Bangalore has the most places to fill, 10, has released as many as 12 players with a minimal amount of 27.90 crores in their purse.
