Former South African coach Paddy Upton has been reinstated as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Upton had previously coached the Royals during the 2013 - 2015 season and then moved to Delhi Daredevils for the next two seasons.
The Indian Premier League is just around the corner and teams have entered the final stretch of their preparation and are getting their squads sorted. Rajasthan Royals enjoyed a fine comeback in the last season of the domestic tournament and ended up fourth on the table at the end of the group stage.
However, the management has opted to change certain things with the manner in which the team functions. The RR management team have moved to reinstate former coach Paddy Upton for the upcoming season.

Upton has coached T20 franchises around the globe and was involved with Sydney Thunder whom he helped win the BBL. He was also part of the support staff under Gary Kirsten that helped India win the 2011 World Cup. Apart from that, the South African native has also coached in the PSL and was with Cricket South Africa as their Performance Director as well. Upton will team up with fast-bowling coach Steffan Jones and Amol Muzumdar who’s the batting coach of the Royals. Sairaj Bahutule will also be part of the Rajasthan Royals' set-up as the team’s spin-bowling coach.
