BCCI source dismisses any rift between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

A BCCI source has dismissed the rumours surrounding a possible rift within the Indian squad, which has been hogging the headlines in recent times. After India’s early World Cup exit, there were reports flowing in the media regarding two groups being formed in the Indian dugout.

India’s semi-final defeat to New Zealand raised a lot of questions and there were some reported pertaining to groups being formed in the Indian team made rounds along with few players being unhappy with coach Ravi Shastri. However, a BCCI source has dismissed all the talks and called it ‘absolute nonsense’.

“Absolute nonsense is being pedalled, like ‘there’s a rift in the team, there’s trouble brewing’, what not. It’s really uncalled for. Which cricketer wishes away another cricketer? Only one who’s never played the game. The World Cup ended and someone wanted a new headline. It’s disappointing how some people twist and turn things to suit their interests,” the BCCI source was quoted by Times of India.

The whole episode has also left the senior Indian team members miffed with India now scheduled to tour the West Indies. There are also talks about split captaincy between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for different formats and only time will unveil the truth. The squad for the Caribbean tour is set to finalised soon and it will be interesting to see the changes Indian selectors make to the squad. India have a lot of questions to answer in their line-up and hopefully, this tour would provide few answers.
