Harsha Bhogle has heaped praise on MS Dhoni for his ability to read the conditions and also said that no team has exploited the home advantage like Chennai Super Kings. Bhogle added that Dhoni has utilised his spin bowlers fantastically throughout the tournament to belt crucial wins.

Bhogle in the column for news daily Times of India noted that while Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad have done well at the home turf, it's CSK who have done exceptionally well to win 6 out of their 7 home games.

Bhogle also talked about how the football teams utilise the home conditions well and wondered how that can be seen in the shortest format of the game. "I have always wondered how the concept of home strength, so prevalent in football, would manifest itself in short-form cricket. In Test cricket, it has become so ingrained that it is now worrisome. But in limited overs cricket, especially in T20, as conditions tend to get standardised, as wickets become homogeneous, home advantage shouldn't strictly be a factor. In the IPL this year, Kings XI Punjab and the Sunrisers benefited from playing at home but no one quite cashed in at home like the Chennai Super Kings did, winning six out of seven."

"All good teams are structured around their strengths. Football does it very well. Barcelona with Messi and Real Madrid in the Ronaldo era, or indeed Arsenal with Henry at his peak, were structured around creating a supply chain for their charismatic strikers," Bhogle penned in the piece.

Bhogle added the entire Chennai Super Kings are built around MS Dhoni and both the parties are benefiting because of that relationship. Bhogle in the column was of the thought that Dhoni understands spin the way music maestro AR Rahman understands rhythm and the ISRO women scientists understand science and rockets.

Riding on the brilliant knock from skipper Dhoni, CSK posted an above par score against Delhi Capitals and then defended the total with some superb bowling performance from the spinners, who choked the Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals. Bhogle praised the way Dhoni used his spinners in the match. He also heaped praises on Dhoni for his batting as he helped them go beyond the 150-run mark which would've been the average total at the Chepauk.

"By playing the conditions superbly, Dhoni was able to plot a 150 kind of total and as happens so often in these situations, the finishing kick took them much further. And then he just closed the game with his spinners using the guile of Harbhajan early on and using Jadeja and Tahir as the wicket got even slower," Bhogle concluded.
