Indian Women's Football | Scottish giants Rangers Women FC call up Ngangom Bala Devi for trails
Indian women's captain Ngangom Bala Devi has received a call-up for trails with Scottish giants Rangers Women FC, who plays in the top division in Scotland. The goal-scoring machine who has 21 goals in 5 games at the national women's championship will attend the trails from November 19 to 26.
In what is to be a great news for Indian football, Indian women's national team captain Ngangom Bala Devi has been called up for a trail with Rangers Women FC from November 19 to 26. Expressing her excitement on the news, Bala Devi said, "This is great news because it shows people are following women’s football,” reported Sportstar.
The 29-year-old Indian women's captain had an excellent season with Manipur Police SC at the IWL with 26 goals. Bala Devi is also the top scorer with 21 goals in 5 matches with Manipur at the National Women's Championship. Rangers finished fourth in the Scottish Women's Premier League 1, which ended on November 17.
Bala has been less informed about Scotland football but has vowed to give her best. “I don’t know if I will be selected because I don’t know much about Scotland. I have only been to Spain twice and I think Scotland will be much different. Nonetheless, I will try my best at the trials,” she added.
" I want to experience their training methods and (learn) how to develop my game. Everyone plays football but there are differences in the way it is played. Through this trial, I have an opportunity to learn the differences,” added the 29-year-old Indian women's skipper who had an excellent season with Manipur Police SC at the National Women's Championship.
“I don’t know if Rangers will select me, but I am sure other good Indian women footballers, too, will get such opportunities.” she further added.
India hosted U-17 men’s World Cup took place in 2017 while India will host U-17 women's World Cup next year. Bala Devi also expressed her satisfaction with the growth in Indian football.
"Indian football has been growing day by day -- the Indian Women’s League began in 2016, the U-17 men’s World Cup took place in India in 2017 and next year, the women’s U-17 World Cup will be held too,” Bala Devi concluded.
