Personal performances are good, but not having a win is difficult, says Virat Kohli
Although he scored his maiden T20 century at the SCA stadium in Rajkot on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli left the stadium unhappy after RCB ended up on the losing side. Kohli expressed his disappointment and played down his personal achievement after the match.
Kohli hit 100 off 63 balls to take the team to a defendable total of 180 against the Gujarat Lions after electing to bat first. But, the home side chased down the target with three balls to spare to register a six-wicket victory.
When asked about his maiden hundred in T20 cricket at the post-match press conference, the RCB skipper expressed his disappointment about not winning the match rather than talking about his hundred.
"I am not really feeling good right now. Would have liked to cross the line on the right side of the result. Missed a coupled of hundreds before.
"Personal performances are good, but not having a win is difficult. Not at any stage was I thinking about a hundred. Just looking for 170. The opportunity came in the end," said Kohli, reported PTI.
Kohli also confirmed swashbuckling left-hander Chris Gayle, who returned to West Indies to be by the side of his wife and new-born daughter, will be back for the next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 30.
"(Gayle) should be back in the next game. Batting is not a concern. We are planning a lot of things (with the ball),” said the RCB skipper.
On the other hand, Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina praised the batsmen for their win and said that Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum’s start at the top gave them the momentum.
"Good win, when Virat got a hundred I thought it was going away from us. But Baz (Brendon McCullum) and Dwayne Smith got us off to a great start. We did not lose focus, we had good partnerships in the chase," said Raina.
"Smithy has been batting really well up the order with CSK, he had a really good PSL. Not sure about
